Default Edmunds long term eval on the A4 turbo

I wonder if installing the Neuspeed chip would eliminate the CVT performance problems?

http://edmunds.com/new/2002/audi/a4/100003612/roadtestarticle.html?articleId=59310&

That's the 3.0, not the 1.8T

Default Best Fuel Economy?

Okay, Math Majors, please clear this up for me since it's been a while since High School math for me. I may be missing something. The Edmunds article said their "Best Fuel Economy" was 19.8 mpg, but that their "Running Average (over the life of vehicle)" was 21.6 mpg. Is that possible? Wouldn't your best be somewhere above the average? Or is this the new math they're teaching in school nowadays?

Default Tester == Moron

He was also underwhelmed by the A4's floor mats. "Again, I expect more from a luxury sedan," he writes. "The mats didn't 'grab' like they should, and kept shifting; for a moment, I thought I was back in my decidedly more downscale Suzuki Sidekick."

WTF? What do you think those cute little nubs are for on the floor of the car morons? Insert the tab into the hole in the freaking floormat.

It is a good thing this guy's a journalist and not doing something important...

Default This is a good review of the 3.0, not the 1.8T, CVT (note the 21.6 mpg long term fuel economy).

Also, I think Edmunds printed a retraction on the slipping floor mats (they didn't have them snapped into the floormat pegs).

Default except for the floormat thingy.. pretty accurate about the transmission..

the CVT has a slight hesitation when you step on the gas from rest... Im guessing its due to the multi-wet clutch setup when engaging the flywheel. The hesitation isnt as bad when in tiptronic mode... better jump off the line.. the CVT was never meant to be a drag racer.. smooth power delivery, good gas mileage, and low rpms at high speeds are the major keys to why this transmission is such a great product....

Default When did they start offering the CVT with a 3.0?

I must have missed this before.
