Exhaust or FMIC?

Exhaust or FMIC?
Currently, I have the GAIC FX chip (with 225TT injectors) on my 02' A4 1.8T, and am looking at what might be next.
I'm trying to figure out whether I should pick up an exhaust or a FMIC. Both are similarly priced, but I'm not sure of the gains of each.
I know FMIC's help you gain back lost power from heat. I live in CA with really hot summers, so I feel it might help. I also like how quiet the car is stock.
But, I don't race often, and figure that the exhaust would give me more power gains.
Future mods may include either a K04 (should my K03 die), or a BT.

go for the fmic
the program should be run with both ideally but the fmic will make it more worth your while with your long hot summers. Exhaust should be your next move but try out others locally before deciding on which you want for your car. I'd recommend highway cruising as well as around town to get a broad spectrum of sounds.

Re: Exhaust or FMIC?
I am one step behind you on mods, I have the chip but stock injectors. Do the injectors make a big diff? how did that affect your MPG?
In regards to the order of MODs, I always figured that no matter what you do at the front end, If the exhaust cant accomodate more flow then you will be restricted until you open it up more on the back end.
Hope that makes sense...doesn't mean im right though.

Thanks for all the quick responses! Looks like a FMIC is the next mod!
I like the suspension, and the car already stops on a dime with the giant S4 brakes.
Maybe I should do the timing belt/water pump/tensioner at the same time as the FMIC. The front end will be off already, so it will be alot easier to get to everything.

I didn't do just a chip (without the injectors)
So I don't really know how it feels. I know my car is a different animal now compared to stock.
Although its only been 1 week, my MPG didn't go down at all. Its all your driving style, and how heavy your left foot is

Going chip->chip+injectors feels like going stock->chip (more)
It's a noticeable significant gain. Highly recommend it, well worth the $400ish. Tough to beat the simple mods for bang for the buck.
Regarding original thread, I'd do FMIC before exhaust, since having a restrictive exhaust will reduce the benefits of the FXK03 program, but having insufficient charge air cooling is much harder on your engine/turbo due to higher EGTs, and the ECU's inability to pull enough timing to prevent preignition.
