Default Funny smell while driving the car hard

Has anyone noticed the funny smell when they driver a new 1.8T 5-speed? I kind of pushed the car a few times and I got this terrible smell that I have never experienced with any other car. It really stinks. I suspect that it is the clutch, but it just does not smell like clutch. Is there anything about the turbo, new lubes in the engine getting burned or anything like that to cause this?

Default Is it like some burnt rubber?

It should be the clutch. It happens to all new manual transmission cars when pushed a litl harder. After you "run-in" the clutch, it will be a lot better.

Is it coming from (or stronger in) the engine bay, or more from the rear/exhaust?

If it's quattro, you wouldn't screech the tires, the clutch takes the big hit.

Default it's the smell of rich fuel mixture when you "gun" the turbo engine ...

if you're referring to that rotten-egg type, sweetish odor.

Usually, you can smell it easily if you are directly behind the car - like on many of our Audi drives - if the 1.8T guy in front of me floors it, I can smell it right away.

My take is that a little of that smell gets into your cabin - not sure if you're driving with your windows down or not. I can smell it inside my car sometimes (even with the windows closed), but very little. If you can smell a lot of it, then maybe you have an air leak somewhere and should have it checked by the dealer.

Default The car has 30kg of paint, sealant and wax for rustproofing.

Sometimes a little wax can leak out of a cavity if the nearby area gets hot. Smells nasty if it hits exhaust.

Most likely the cause. If it hasn't gone away by 10,000kms, see dealer.
