GIAC Chip

Re: What was the cost at AWE? How was the service? Thinking of taking a road trip...
Mailed mine it. If you're close you should drive. The guys there seem very professional and know more about our babies than the average Honda speed shop.

Re: GIAC Chip
Hohoho, My saleman let me take the 3.0 for a weekend. I was dismayed by the low-end! I was going to opt for the old-style S4 (they're cheap now) until I tried the 1.8 sport and heard about GIAC. So far I have only this chip and a Forge diverter valve. Call AWE and ask why anyone would spend 3k extra for a 3.0. Better yet, install this chip and then take a 3.0 for a test drive. Smoother, yes. But so is a Toyota Camry. It's stricly an enthusiast setup so don't believe the crap you hear from Taurus owners who decide to take one for a test drive. I heard the sport package was too harsh... I'm tightening mine even more.

I have over 4000 miles and the motor is free-reving now, but it is louder that before..........
I went drag racing with my car and after that trip (around 1500 miles) my motor was much more free-reving and fun to drive. Give it some time, the 1.8t will suprise you. As far as roughness mine is louder than before. It is not a bad or irritating noise, but you can hear the motor do its thing. Although I did take off the top Audi cover which has some insulation on it? I took this off to let it cool better. Now my car will heat my garage up and few tics. I have a small insulated two car garage.

Ahhhhhhhhhhh.. the cost
Make friends with a certified dealer. You could get the stock chip option (back to stock settings for service), FedEx insured two-way and a Forge diverter valve for approx. the listed retail of the chip. $495.-

Re: Has anyone used Shine Racing Service in Walpole, MA for their GIAC chip install?
If GIAC lists them then you cany rely on them. I think there are less than 10 dealers listed by GIAC. Everyone goes through those dealers. If Shine isn't a dealer, they might just send your ECU to Philly anyway. Careful they don't break your windshield taking out the ECU. It's happening a lot with the 8E.

GREAT Chip
Absolutely agree. The new Baily valve is a ringer for the Forge, great any way you slice it. It's an incredible ride...just be sure to upgrade you pipes. I'm plenty happy with APR.
