Got a ticket for "racing".....
I just got a ticket last night for "racing". They impounded my car and took me to jail. I'm in Virginia and the cop said he clocked me going 97/45, but my radar detector never went off. In reality he was just sitting there reading a magazine he said. Radar detectors are illegal in VA, but luckily I hid mine when he pull me. I was driving with my roomate, that's why it was racing. Should I bring up the fact that he didn't clock me?? Cop in VA drive around with their radar on all the time, because no one has radar detectors. Any loop holes with these types of tickets? Thanks

In my state (Illinois) that is automatic 1yr license suspension
I suggest your get yourself a lawyer, or you pretty much have no hope.
I got a drag racing ticket before along with a bunch of others (speeding, and whatever else he could think of). My lawyer got them all dropped.

Best advice
I've been there too many times. Get an attorney and most likely you'll get sentence reduced.
I used to live in Va too and got stopped with Radar dector- that was another ticket...

Not familiar with VA law, but it sounds like you were charged with a criminal violation.
First in my opinion you should seek legal counsel. I am not sure what the consequences are of this charge.
Also were there two cars involved? Did the other car pull over?
Be careful with the speeding thing (radar, clocking), you could win the battle and lose the war. Sure maybe they drop the civil speeding charge but I would be more worries about any criminal charges like the street racing.
Inquire about a potential continuation w/o finding. Pain in the but but financially keeps down cost of trial and it is nice and clean. But you have to keep your nose clean for the probation period. Otherwise you run the risk of summary judgment on the CWOF.
Good luck.
97/45? were you racing? I want to hear about the other car.
