How much does your dealer charge for brake service?
Labor + pads + rotor per axle?
How much should I expect a private shop to charge?
I might want to chip the car, just to liven it up for me. Will any aftermarket pads make a considerable difference in terms of stopping distances? Overall, I'd say that I'm a big fan of the oem pads for their long life, and durability.
A brake upgrade would be nice, but I don't want to sink money unnecessarily into the car since I'm not sure If I'll be keeping it for 6 months or 2 years.

dealer=125/hour + Full MSRP on OEM Parts
Indy= 75/hour and you can supply the parts.
FYI..brakes can be done by your local gas/servioce station. It is not Audi Science for a brake/rotor/pad job.

No it's not rocket science
but I need an oil change & state inspection done anyway. If I could knock out all three in one service appointment it would be worth a premium for the time savings. My car is also a high mileage car that has gotten 4k miles of use this year, so I wouldn't mind an actual Audi mechanic taking a look to make sure everything is OK.

The crooked ones yes but not all...
I asked to get an idea from others. I've called my local dealers and have been quoted anywhere from $220 to $525 for labor. Obviously, you need to do you research and not just go somewhere on a whim.

to give you an idea on stealership charges in general, Honda charged me $180
for rear brakes on an Accord (just pads!!) two weeks ago. Audi will certainly be more, especially if you resurface the rotors. either DIY or take to an indi shop.

Dealers in my area:
The breakdown is as follows - labor + parts = Total:
Autohaus $220 + $548.21 = $768.21
YBH $255 + $469.22 = $724.22
Vision $320 + $469.38 = $789.38
Winner $475 + $470.14 = $945.14 (LOL!)
Don Rosen $525 + $506.97 = $1,031.97 (LOL!)
oem parts @ Clair would cost $408.84 +S&H.
