Ignition Problem

Ignition Problem
I went out this morning and went to start the car. I felt the ignition "give" an now the car wont start and its stuck on accessory . I have to disconnect the battery to turn off. Do I need an new ignition or is there a part I can get to repair. Sensor etc....Really hate to have 2 seperate keys for this car. Sorry ..Im a newb

Still don't quite understand, but if the switch turns freely, not sure why you can't turn it to off and pull the key out. Anyway, it sounds like something is wrong in the switch itself. Not much to do but replace the switch and probably get new keys.

key sticking
Good luck buddy. My 2005 A6 has had this problem for over a year. As it was an infamous "intermittent" problem dealer in Roswell could never find the problem. Finally in last two weeks is actually happened in the shop - after $150 diagnostic fee. To fix dealer said "maybe $450 if it's this" OR "if that doesn't work it will be $2800 for a new circuit board". So possible $3,000+ for a safety and security issue (leave the car unlocked so it could be stolen and/or taken by a kid and kill somebody. Audi NA has passed it back to the dealer after I filed a complaint with NHTSA.
