i'm finally an owner!
ordered it on christmas eve, had to wait through audi's "we-don't-wanna-make-non-sunroof-a4's" production hiatus, but picked up my denim blue/platinum qxs 1.8t this past friday and haven't stopped grinning. it's nice to get exactly what i wanted. many thanks for all the insights this forum offers. i'll post pix as soon as i leave the car in one place long enough.

Bravo!!! I ordered a 3.0Q Tip w/out sunroof on 3/16. (more)
I'll probably be in the wait mode until mid to late June. I've told myself its going to be that long so if for some reason it shows up a few weeks earlier I'll be really stoked. Congrats and don't forget to post those picks.

i ordered w/out sunroof b/c i don't use it that often, i wanted to reduce wind noise, i'm tall and you pick up a little ceiling height w/out the sunroof and, finally, b/c money was an issue and i saved myself $1,000 . . .

I didn't want to hassle with any chance of wind noise or the chance of it leaking.
I also opted out of leather seats to save the $1,320 - the platinum leatherette will do just fine for me.

If you are in a warm climate (e.g., SoCal), this car will be nearly impossible to resell without a big financial hit.
I'm not saying it's right, but that's life. I too would prefer a non-sunroof car, but a BMW salesdude once told me flatout that I would have to pay the whole price upfront because if I backed out of the deal they would never be able to sell the car to anyone else.
