Default Just APR flashed my 1.8t

Tonight i flashed my 04 1.8t Tip (yeah, I know.. tipo sucks... but i have enough mt cars.) Anyway.. i notice the turbo kicking in earlier and a much smoother accel. No huge gains... but just removing some of the low end lag makes it worth it for me. I am running the 91 oct program. So can anyone tell me exactly what APR does to the programming? Higher boost? more fuel? Should i expect worse gas milage? thx much.

You should have done some search on APR before buying it.

i did.. everyone said.. it is "okay"... others are better.. but APR is conservative (which i wanted)... and everyoen comments on how their B5 programing was better. No one offered "whatever the heck you do, don;t get APR"

giac gain is about 17.5 psi from stock psi...well neuspeed pchip is more powerful(around 20 psi) but i heard alot of scary stories with their chips...blown cylinders or pistons etc...

Default Some answers....

The reprogramming changes the table constants used for air fuel calibration. They don't change what I call "strategy" code. I've had APR stage 1 for over a year and have had no issues and I really like it.

Boost for stage 1 is 1.0 bar, which is similar for most stage 1 offerings from GIAC, REVO, etc. They all come in at around 195hp and 220 ft.lbs., give or take a few here or there. Subsequent performance gains on the car are also similar between tuners.

Default I think APR is great! APR 1 is 1.0 bar and improves fuel efficiency...(MORE)

I have APR 1 and looking at either 1+ or getting REVO and SPS3. The reason I went with APR is because it is conservative and doesn't strain the turbo like the other chips do with their 1.2 and 1.4 bar boost.

The only reason I am debating on APR 1+ or REVO is that I am looking into the Stage III kits in the future and knowing APR, they will put out a very dependable Stage III. However, REVO tuned by David@EcodeTuning is getting a lot of high reviews. I am definitely looking at the GT28RS turbo upgrade....just tossing up which chip to use to run it. Either keep 1+ with injectors for APR III or get REVO and go with David's custom tuning.

For some apparent reason, a lot of people on this board and other forums love to bash APR. In my opinion, they make a good product that is conservative and not pushing the limits of what our engines can do. Don't let the negative opinions of some decide for you. I love my APR 1.

On this subject, I would advise you to get a new DV like forge and also upgrade your sparkplugs to copper plugs like the NGK BKR6E.

Default Wait for APR...

Dont want to get into the software thing, but i have no problems with mine, nor does my buddy, an im assuming you dont either...
anyway, apr has some of the best hardware out there, especially their exhaust manifold, and the gt28rs you would get from atp is not the same as the one you will get from apr, i spoke to a guy from apr at waterfest when my buddy was asking about upgrading his b5 apr s3 to the s3+ with the gt28rs by just by one from garrett and getting new software, and we were informed that the gt28rs from apr is not the same as the one you would buy directly from garret (and prob. ATP) as APR has worked over some of the internals of them
