Default just got 900 dollars above invoice

well, i just finalized a 3.0 quattro with bose, sunroof, heated seats and premium for 900 dollars above dealer invoice.

i'm just sharing this with everyone because i want everyone to know that you don't have to pay sticker price or even 800 dollars off.

you have to understand it is a mind game and also a business deal. the first two dealers i went to would only give me 800 dollars off. i told them i would only accept that if it had a BMW logo on the car. they let me leave without even taking my address or number down. so i sat down with a list of dealers all over michigan and ohio. the first guy i call gives me 900 above invoice. another guy i called gives me 1000 over invoice but for a car w/ manual.

not to bust down on anybody, i'm sure people have paid less and more. this is just so that people know that you don't have to accept a high price and you can negotiate for a good deal.

Never show what you're thinking or any signs of weakness. everybody loves the car. just don't let the dealer know that. he needs to know that you have other options, so he better give you a good deal.

enjoy!

Default Can someone explain the "above invoice" thing?

Sorry, English is not my native language.
Your (US) 'car buying procedure' probably differs from ours.
Normally, someone pays invoice price or LESS for a product, right??? :S

Invoice is (basically) what the dealer pays for the car. You always pay *more* than invoice.

Default Paid $650 above invoice

But I had to shop 5 different dealers. Best thing to do is get a quote from the internet sales manage. For some reason they can go lower on cars than regular sales person.

That is correct, MSRP is our price. Should always pay less than MSRP

Default If you go to edmunds or kbb, you will see both numbers

Think of it as wholesale and retail. Unless you're buying a really rare car, don't pay retail! Pay wholesale plus (as little plus as you can get away with).

Default Where in Michigan or Ohio are you getting it?

I think the dealers are more willing to discount on the 3.0 being that they don't move (sell) as fast as the 1.8.
