Spend a few days on the Bimmer board, or any board for that matter.
You'll see problems, problems, problems. Thats what these forums are for, people with the same product discussing issues both good and bad.

No car is perfect...and yes, people do come here when they have problems...
hoping to find an answer. This forum is a wealth of information.
Here's the way I looked at it two years ago when considering my first Audi, and my first "luxury" car: At least IF I have a problem, I now have a "reputable" source of information (Audiworld) in addition to the dealer.
If you like the car, buy it. You may have some bumps along the road, but that will be the case with all European vehicles. You'll still enjoy the journey.
One of the biggest differences in ownership for me was my service department. I love them...and they have made my ownership experience that much more enjoyable. I would recommend you feel out your prospective service department. Do they have time to listen to the customer? Do they have time to walk you out to the car to discuss issues with your car in detail?

people that have had no problems - don't post 'i had no problems again today!'
therefore, reading this board sometimes makes it seem like everyone is having problems.
Thay aren't! 5 months with not 1 problem.
*knock on wood
