Look What Brown brought me!

Whoh Hoh! It's time to get rid of those awful factory paper cones they call speakers, and change out for some good aftermarket stuff.
I am getting an install done on my '02 A4 Avant. Luckily I don't have the Bose system, so it should be no problem.
I picked up an 8" JL Audio sub woofer, two sets of MB Quart (model DSE216) 6.5-inch mid range and 1-inch tweeters, w/crossovers, and Eclipse (model EA3532) 5/4 channel amplifier.
I have decided at this time to only upgrade the audio, and leave the factory 6-disc changer/HU in the dash.
The last install I did was in my '83 Monte Carlo when it was a lot simpler to do. But I'm afraid I am not smart enough, nor do I have the patience to tear into the Audi, so I am taking to Pacific Audio in Woodland Hills, CA to have them install it. Unfortunately, I won't have any picture of the actual install or process to show you.
Also, since it is the wagon, I don't want to loose any storage or luggage space, so I want the amp hidden, and the woofer place in that "cubby" hole on the left side. I think and amp will fit under the floor and an 8-inch will fit in the cubby. Replacement of factory door speakers.
I'll let you know how it comes out.

Your using the 8 inch subwoofer to replace the one in the rear deck or are...
you using an enclosure? and where are you getting the signal for the amplifier, from the head unit or the amplifier?

Re: Your comment confuses me.
You say that paper is best, but it won't hold up. Then you say Kevlar is the best. So which would YOU want in your car?
Paper is not the best materials to make a high-end speaker. A paper cone can NOT hold up -- over time -- to the harsh environment of a automobile. And will eventually rip or tear causing problems (as you state).
For fast, accurate sound propagation titanium oxide, and as you mention, Kevlar woofer cones, are some of the best materials to be use in the mfg of speaker cones.
Another material that offers outstanding strength, thermal stability, and low moisture retention, all preferred qualities in car audio speakers, is a pearl mica injection-molded polypropylene material for the woofers and a PEI material for the tweeter.

a good paper woofer usually gives the BEST musical reproduction and frequency response
but the problem is limited power handling. all im saying is dont discount paper speakers yet. =)
