Thanks... yeah I've never seen that part, but that doesn't mean it isn't hiding somewhere

Oil filter would attach directly too it.

Default This was sudden as far as I can tell...

I've never seen my car leaking, but to be fair I don't stare at the ground under my car all the time.

Default I'll put my money on the filter.

Either it was overly tightened and the threads were stressed...or it wasn't tightened enough and has slowly shaken itself loose.

Reach down and check the seal and tightness of your filter. You don't need your buddy or a VAG to check that.

If it's just the filter, the extent of damage/other problems swings back to how long you drove the car or had the engine turning when there was no oil in the car.

Have you checked the oil level to see if it's completely dry? (i.e. BAD news) or if it's still got a quart or two? (i.e. less bad news).

Default Well as long as you didn't get any "low oil" warning before, I guess it's safe to assume that...

there is no abnormal oil consumption on your car.

Did your oil dipstick appear to have been pushed out a little?

Default Yeah I'm no Audi tech specialist either but unless M-Bod has been keeping secrets from us...

I doubt that the problem is turbo related.

Default Wow, hope you get it worked out. I would get a new filter (preferably an oem one) and....

install it, along w/ some more oil and eliminate that purolator filter as the culprit. Just my $.02
