Default Need some help with sway bar installation...

Im getting my sways next week sometime, and was hoping to install them myself... i read the h-sport instructions, and they reccomended a lift.

is the lift the best route to go, or would i be ok with a jack and jack stands?

how many tons does an a4 weigh? is there a danger of jack stands failing, and the car dropping on your head?

anyone have any suggestions? thanks in advance

Default All of the ones I've done I've used ramps...don't use jack or jack stands...(more)

You don't want the suspension to be unsupported when you install the bars. You want the weight going through the wheels/suspension. I recommend a $20 set of Rhino ramps.

Default i thought the jack stands sounded kind of dodgy... where can you get the ramps?

i just looked at them...do you need more height than that? or is that sufficient? cheers

Any autoparts store will have rhino ramps...the height should be fine.

Default Jack stands are fine if you know how to use them properly.

But from the sound of your post, I'm guessing not. And I'm not picking on you, but you're obviously not sure and that's OK. No one is born with this knowledge. That being said, I would find a friend who does have some experience and enlist their help. It is always much better to be safe than sorry.

Default yo uare right...i've never used them, and somewhat hesitant to try...

I am not a big fan of jacks. I used to have a jeep, and i was changing a flat, the jack gave way, and the jeep almost crushed my head... not a fun experience, and a POS jack!

but if i decide to go that route, i will def. get someone whos done it before to help me.

thanks

Default No problem.

In my experience, I have always found it best to admit if unsure about something and seek help. There is no shame in it. I still do it. Not worth gettting hurt over if you ask me. Good luck.
