Need used Antenna Amplifier for 2002 A4
Hi,
I posted this previously but didn't get much response so I am reposting it again hoping someone out there might know the answers.
The reception on my radio went from good to really bad recently and based on what I read from the forums I've narrowed down the problem to the Antenna amplifier that is attached to the back window. On the antenna amplifier I noticed a minor crack on the rubber that's covering the circuit board. I am not sure if this is what's causing the bad reception or if it's some broken connection below the casing. I did notice that every time I pushed on the right side of the antenna amp, the FM reception went very good.
I have taken the amplifier out now and wondering if there is anyway for me to fix the issue my self? It looks like the rubber outside is glued on to the circuit board so I am afraid I may break it if I try to take it off to inspect the circuit board for any loose connections.
Attached please see couple of photos showing the crack.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I purchased an aftermarket setup for about $30-$40. Someone else on this forum has the same setup ( or audizine).
My car is in the bpdyshop so I'm waiting for it back so I can install it. Once I'mm 100% sure it works, I can let you knwo and probally get you the parts

"The part has some cracks on the plastic outside coating, the part still functions properly"
Somehow I doubt does it function any better than my current wich also has a crack..

use cheap antenna booster
I wonder can we just go out and buy some cheap FM antenna amplifier and connect to the radio instead. Such as just dis-connect the cable from the while connector and connect a antenna booster instead. I think for those people whom already take the board out can try it and let us know. However, for the antenna booster, you will require the connection to the 12V DC.

Self Mod
I had the same problem and couldnt find the part anwhere apart from the stealership so did a self repair. if its only FM your interested in then attach a length of copper wire (speaker wire) with the sheathing intact to the antennae end and wrap it from one end to the other a few times. FM reception is in working order but wont pick up MW. i can post a couple of pics but wont be till the weekend.
