new A4 3.0 auto CVT - gear change noise
Had a brand new CVT (Audi calls it multitronic) A4 3.0 Front Wheel Drive 4 dr. saloon for 6 months. Noticed annoying noise (sometimes continuous) when changing gears either via the steering wheel + and - buttons or the gearshift stick. Sounds like an internet dialup tone. The local dealership indicates it's due to hydraulic pressure changes in the multitronic gearbox. However, the noise is noticeable even when in automatic mode though the noise level is lower. Has anyone else noticed this phenomenon ? Is it fixable ?

??? ive never noticed this.
got a 2.0L multitronic.
When you use the tiptronic mode, you get the standard gear changing noise depending on the ratios and engine speed, but when its in standard CVT mode, which is faster and more fuel economical, not to mention smoother, we get no noise.
There shouldnt be as there are not gears, just a smooth set of cones acting as infinite gears.
