Non-plastic coolant flange
These pieces have been notoriously leaking for so long, over multiple generations, that I wonder why the aftermarket hasn't stepped up with a metal replacement, as it did to save owners from the scourge of the oem plastic impeller water pumps.
Of course, I'm not curious why VW hasn't fixed the problem themselves; the pieces make it past the warranty.
