Default NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Yesterday, while helping a friend go pick up his car, this happened!
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/40431/img_1842.jpg">

It happened as he got out of the car. He pushed the passenger door open, but the door didnt open all the way, it did its "bounce back" thing... and was closing as his leg was sticking out. He "naturally" put his leg up so not to get it crushed by the door and the car body. The result was this lovely hole in the door panel.

<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/40431/img_1843.jpg">

The hole goes all the way through the material.

Does anyone know if:
1) this sort of thing would be fixed under warrenty? or if not :
2) Can one patch this nicely?
3) How much does it cost roughly to replace the part?

Argh!! this makes me soooo friggin mad!

Default Get a dealer quote for the part.

Call around to a few local dealers and http://www.clairparts.com/ to get prices on the door insert. Also, ask at your dealer about leather/vinyl repair - they may have a contract with someone who does that kind of work (my Volvo dealer does - he goes from dealership to dealership on certain days of the week to perform these types of repairs). Something like that could probably be made to look almost perfect for around $100.

Me, I'd replace the insert (perfectionist). Not to mention, maybe your dealer will warranty it. Now wouldn't that be cool?

Default Nope just your basic work shoes.

Called the dealer, thier repair guy is gonna have a look and give me an estimate next wednesday.

I checked out clairparts.com, though i couldnt find the insert on their site. Any other places that may carry them?

Clair and your dealer, just not a common item for someone to order, you will have to call.

I hate that about the Audi A4, this is my second A4 and the "bounce back" thing drives me crazy.

I am still getting used to it too. It happens right where my last car's door "locked" open.

Default Just an FYI, you have to buy the whole door panel. There is no part number for that specific part..

even though it looks like that part can be taken off without removing the door panel. But it does not, it is part of the whole door panel.

o ya, sorry about your door
