Which pa.rts to replace with compressor?
So my wife's car had the compressor fail completely. The shop she took it to didn't have parts so they just removed the compressor, fixed the belts, and let her go with no AC. That was several weeks ago and we're ordering our own parts (local shops want to charge us 4x the going rate for parts, no idea why

Well crap this got posted before I was ready. I'll look for a way to delete it.
Since the system has sat open without the compressor attached, do we also need to replace the condensor, dryer, orifice tube, or restrictor valve?
Especially since repair involves dismantling so much of the car I'm tempted to do a little more than normal to avoid doing it twice.

I think that all you need to replace is the receiver-dryer, if that. When the new compressor is in and everything connected, the vacuum pump should pull any remaining moisture from the system. Last year the compressor on my 3.0 failed, and even though I had AC experience from working at Mazda R&D, I had a trusted shop install a new one and also the expansion orifice. Was about $1,200.
