Performance upgrades unknowns...

LOL...that's quite a story...
reminds me of years back, when I sold tennis rackets, I used to tell customers that it's mostly a matter of technique...MacEnroe could beat most of us using only a cheap wood frame racket.

unexpected results??? you're kidding??
You can't be serious... Uhh.. it quite simple. Brembo break kit with bigger rotors and calipers with more pistons WILL stop quicker than the stock system (if installed correctly). Why, cause that what the hell Brembo brake kits do. Reason why it didn't come that way from the factory, COST. Reason why the cost so much more, because Brembo knows what the hell they're doing when it comes to making great brakes.
Aftermarket forced induction system done right will bump torque up significantly. Again, you need to know what the hell you're doing. Of course it will affect the engine and components in adverse, possibly harmful ways, but that the chance you take. If you know what you're doing, keep the fuel ratio in check and all that crap, chances are you'll have a very effective, reliable system.
To blantly say all mods are inherintnly BAD because Audi didn't do it from the onset is ludicrous. Trust me, when I ripped out the twin turbos in my Supra and installed a big single, you couldn't wipe the grin off my face for months. Once the system was tweaked and tunned (on a dyno /w wide-band o2) it was rock solid, 15k+ miles. More so than the twins running high boost, reason 'cause I installed a turbo designed for racing applications.

yeah, when they have a quality upgrade, they don't test em at all
just slap on some cars and hope for the best, that's why you hear about all those stories in which guys upgrade thier A4 hate the results.

Factory usually 23 to 27lbs. Must not bend in extreme conditions. If you
want to go light, try Volk Racing or SSR. Any lighter than 15lbs might be a tad fragile for street use, but 15 to 18lbs should be OK.

26 lbs. heavy, but can take potholes in stride
Everything is a tradeoff.
Heavy usually means strength.
Wheels less than 18 lbs can cost $400 & up
Replacing 5 is an expensive proposition, even after reselling stock wheels.
I would like lighter wheels, but because of cost, will learn to like the ones I have.
Better plan for me: driver loses the 30lbs ;-)

Check e-bay and vwvortex classifieds ( watch bolt pattern & offset ). We got 17 inch SSRs for a bit
over $500 for 4. Nice condition although not perfect. Going to be race wheels.
