Default Pictures of the finished AMS SS installation

Thanks to the forum for the tech tips as it did make life a lot easier.

My tips:

1) DO NOT lose the damn washer under the circlip. Audi doesn't sell this part as it is part of the entire gear shift assembly. You'll have to go search for a replacement or modify one like I did.

2) I replaced the lower hex screw with a 6mm bolt instead. This made tweaking the shifter a lot easier as I could used a socket head and not worry about stripping the head of a screw. I didn't use thread lock so I just tighetened the bolt as much as I could.

3) Adjustment. I adjusted my shifter to smoothly engage 3rd from neutral with just a push forward. It cleanly engagses 4th will a pull backwards. With this done I found the rest of the gears are a bit notchy as expected but the alignment is dead center for 3rd and 4th.

4) In order to get more room to tighten the lower bolt when you find the position you like best, push down on the shifter and then tigheten as this will give you an extra bit of room for your socket driver.

5) After aligning the shifter I found it sat a bit to the right of center when in neutral position.

I thank everyone again and now I'm going to go for a drive.

Default Thanks. I did the install with the help of my brother.. The tips from the

forum made it easy for me to pick out how to finish off the shift boot.

A simple zip tie. =)

Default

It's only 1/2" lower than stock height and the AMS unit comes that way.

Default how come your shifter sits in the middle as if it were stock? (m)
