Plastic key
Does anyone know how much a replacement valet key costs (The little tiny plastic one)? I lost mine a couple months ago, and I always used to keep it in my wallet, and I HATE not having it.

the plastic key not a valet key. Its a full key that will open every lock (glovebox/door/trunk).
There is a "valet" key which can be made that can only be used to open the door and unlock the car, but you gotta buy it.

why does the dealer have to recode all the keys? can't he just cut a new one for me?
So you're saying if I ever want a new key for my car, I have to have them all recoded and it's expensive? That doesn't make sense.

the keys along w/ the ECU and the cluster all store an electronic key (SKC key)...
they all need to have the same one to let you start the car... it's thief prevention "feature"... the dealer cannot just recode one, they all need to be recoded at once.

not that i'm aware off...
afaik, it's down online using a secure connection back to the motherland. dealers are not even *supposed* to be able to view/retrieve these electronic keys for security/thief protection.
i came to learn all of this at the time i was doing all the research for my colour cluster...
