Possible Door Problem with '02 A4s?
Hey, anybody get a strange clicking sound when opening the front doors to the full 85-degree position and letting them rock slightly?
Is the culprit that little black plastic pin in the door hinge? It makes the doors sound cheap as hell (until you close them with that nice German thud, that is.)

I think I know what you may be talking about, although I havent really found it a problem.
The A4 has double hinged doors, which open wider than any other car in the class for easy access, and part of the mechanism, when i was having a closer look at it a while back, involved some sort of "round metal tube like thing"
(lol, apologise for the great technical terms)
with another smaller piece of metal which is in contact with it, and rolls, or rubs across it as the door opens, this rubs off the paint on the tube, and I think may also cause the sound you talk about, alothough this may be a problem with your car alone, as I havent found it to sound cheap or bad.
hmm, look like a few more door openings for me ;o)
