QUESTION FOR APRIL/VERDEGIRL
#4
Personal profile ? Yes, I am really female. Check my acct # picture poster for proof.
Born and raised in western Canada.
Dad was underground diesel mechanic in the mines in the Yukon. He's always tinkering with something.
Always hung out with Dad - especially when he worked on cars.
Loved cars as long as I can remember - traded dolls for cars so I could make race tracks in the sand box. Loved weird cars and odd engineering - Air cooled Franklins and Doble steam cars rock ! The Porsche 928 was my high school dream car.
Came to LA and worked for a British car restoration place. Got tired of having to deal with sleazy dealers when I helped friends buy cars. Got into car sales. Went for VW and Audi because they were the underdog, but knew it wouldn't stay that way given what was in the pipeline about to be released ( first gen A4 ). Became an Audi Brand Specialist - AoA trained salesperson. Retired when I got married because the hours in sales are too harsh - 6 days a week, 10hrs a day, always working weekends, and evenings. I now work for AMS as a dealership rep. Ultimate goal is to be a sales trainer - the person who trains salespeople.
Have owned:
'70 Toyota Crown ( Dad's old car - my first )
'80 Toyota PU
'88 Isuzu Impulse ( RWD Lotus package )
'90 Jetta GLi
'87 Alfa Milano Verde ( my current car )
Hope to have a 24v GTi, new Audi A3/S3 or Alfa 147 GTA in '04/05.
The more I learn, the more I realize I don't know crap. Some of the old timers in the resto biz are simply incredible.
If you are in NorCal, the A6 people have little drives now and then. They aren't too crazy, so it's a nice way to take a brisk drive with your friends. If you want to walk on the wild side, join us in the Alfa club ( you don't need an Alfa ) for some of our track events. The next driving school will be held this weekend at the Streets of Willow Springs in SoCal. We have a grand time ! We also have time trials and such. The national convention will be held in June in Costa Mesa, with track time at the Fontana Speedway.
Other than my obsession with things that burn gas, I'm a pretty normal girl.

http://www.nizam.com/ws0500.html</a
