Question for the members with aftermarket exhausts...
I am considering buying an exhaust for my '04 1.8T 6M USP. Do you really notice any performance benefits over the stock system? The only mod I currenlty have done is APR stage 1. Or is a system more for looks and sound? Which I understand as well. Is it worth dropping a "G"?

I really like the sound of mine. I think it gives the car more personality,
and I've noticed slight improvement at wot.
Not sure if it's worth it or not, but I do enjoy it every time I drive.

especially if it's a turbo. Turbos love air and it allows the RPMS to get up faster with more free flowing air.
It all depends on what you want to do to the car. But having a chip along with an exhaust is a pretty good, "one/two punch."
Plus it makes the car sound beefy too. To me, that's worth about 900 bucks right there; performance is a nice plus as well. =D

i have a dyno plot around here somewhere with before/after thermal street exhaust...
7whp-so yes, there is a gain to be had there. also looks, sound, and nice shiny stainless pipes are a plus!
