Received email from Neuspeed regarding 1.5 bar specs
I received the following email from Neuspeed in response to my request for the 1.5 bar specs:
"The program for your 2002 1.8tq with the 1.5bar program has a higher boost level in the beginning spool up-a greater volume of air. I'm finalizing the dyno graphs right now what I have seen is 205bhp/220ft-lb. Now with this program the boost spike is greater then it tapers back to protect the turbo from heat issue. If you have any questions please let us know"
I assume the numbers he quoted are at the wheels, but I emailed him just to confirm. I also asked him to send me a dyno chart when it was finalized as well as boost plots.
After driving the car for a couple more days, there seems to be a lot more pull in all gears than I originally noticed (compared to the 1.2 bar). 1st and 2nd gear pull very hard and smooth. The only flaw Ive encountered so far is the slight hesitation in 4th gear around 4500rpms. The hesitation only occurs during WOT. Ive been running 91 octane, so Im going to mix some race gas this weekend to see if the hesitation goes away.

Upgrade from 1.2 bar chip was $100
If you dont have the 1.2 bar chip, Im not sure if it is the same price($299 at Greedspeed). Neuspeed flashes the original stock chip, so you would need to send your ECU to them.

205 hp at the wheels? You're saying a 1.5 bar chip is giving you over 240 rated hp?
I find that hard to swallow.
240+ hp is not gonna happen w/ our little ko3's...
Also, how does this added boost affect the longevity of our turbos?
And mixing race gas to *fix* the hesitation won't do much, as very few people have access to, or are willing to fill up with race gas on the regular.

Im only assuming its at the wheels because...
Neuspeeds quoted specs for the 1.2 bar is 208hp and 245tq at the crank.
AS for the race gas, I am just going to mix it with 91 octane, since Neuspeed recommends 93 octane, which people do have access to.

Yes...
Under hard acceleration it is very noticable. It pulls harder thoughout the rpm range. With normal or moderately agressive acceleration if feels like the 1.2 bar chip.
The difference is not as big as going from just stock to a chip though.
