Responsive Steering

Responsive Steering
I have ordered a 1.8TQM (17's) with sports suspension and am wonering if the steering will be more responsive than the stock suspension. The reason I ask is I drove my friend's 1.8T (16's - stock over here) last night and thought it felt a little loose, i.e. understeer. He then had a go in my car (golf Mark 4 1.8t gti) and agreed that it was much more responsive, steering wise. I appreciate they are different cars, but just wondering if handling will be much different between stock and sport with 17's. Tks

Re: Shorter sidewall will make for sharper feel. The Golf does have a bit more feedback
Thanks. Do you think it would be somewhere between the stock suspension and golf or closer to the golf?

It will be btween the two. You also have to remember
that some of the feedback on the Golf is considered undesirable - bump steer and torque steer. The A4 has neither of those issues.
You can get some feel back by using short sidewall tires ( rougher ride and slightly greater chance of bending wheel ), and/or lighter wheels will most certainly improve ride, handling and feedback.
