is their any way to install satellite radio on a 2002 a4 without changing the head unit

2 weeks ago i posted a similar post and started searching on different forums. From what I found, the easiest thing is to get a small device where you can hook it the sun visor. This is if your unit is like mine without the SAT button. The other option may be to get a different unit supporting the SAT function.

What device did you use to add on to the radio

actually my friend has a small pioneer unit where he attached it at his sun visor. He did this many years ago as I tried to search for similar unit but no luck. I think you can consider the option of retrofitting your car with another head unit with that SAT button, either guanine or aftermarket. Actually I'm in the process of getting RNS-E unit for my car.
