Default Should dealer be cutting my muffler apart??? !

I have, after great effort, got my dealer to replace my muffler under warranty. (vibrations at 1800 rpm's) I showed up today to have the work done, but after inspecting the part, the dealer said he has to send my car out to a muffler shop. They are purposing to cut my pipes off just past the muffler, replace the muffler & weld the pipes back on.
I guess I'm just concerned because that's not the way it was assembled at the factory. Any advice would be great because I'm suposed to bring her back to go under the tourch tomorrow AM!

Thanks

Default Maybe its just me, but this doesnt make sense. How is the muffler causing vibrations?

Is it hitting something? Does it rattle?

Either way, I wouldnt be very happy with that solution. Does Audi even sell sections of the exhaust?

If it were me, I'd let the dealership know that you're not happy. Give them an apportunity to fix it and let them know that you're going to call Audi to make sure it's an approved and condoned method of fixing the problem that wont affect your warranty.

The vibration was inside the muffler, I think they're called baffles? Anyway, I checked up on the muffler shop, and they are the best in the area. I'm on my way to pick it up, so I'll let you know.
