Smell of burnt oil during braking
Hi,
I notice a heavy smell of burnt oil whenever I hit the brakes a little harder (no, its NOT from the wheels). There are significant traces of oil mist in the area above (!) the oil filter, but I can't find any leakage. No significant oil consumption. Any ideas?
TIA!

Re: I have smelled it before. I even posted thinking it was the clutch. As for ideas, none.
Hi Dustin,
unfortunately, I can't exactly locate where it comes from (oil pump?). There is an area about 10 inch in diameter that's covered with a very thin oil film. If I wipe it off, it reappears after 2-3 days.

I would call the dealer and have them look at it. Soon.
Please let me know what they say, I have an apt in a few weeks and I will have this looked at too. I will check for an oil film tonight.
