Default the bottom unclips pretty easy IIRC. I had to take it out when I put my kit on.

The upper is easy as well. There are some clips on the backside on the top part of the grille. Just push them in the obvious direction and the grille pops out. Taking the chrome ring off the grille is easy as well. You just have to be careful of the tabs on the sides, they look like they could break easy, although I bet it would hold without them. It all just unsnaps all around...pretty easy. Then just hit it with some sandpaper. I chose 150. Prime, paint and let dry for a while. My finish was still a little soft so I had to tape off the grille and touch up a spot, but it came out just fine for free.
