soft glass - survey
Wondering how many of my fellow AW'ers have scratched, pitted, and other issues with the glass in their B6?
My car is 14 months old, 30k miles. I'm on my 2nd windshield. 1st was replaced under Massachusetts comprehensive insurance claim following a stone impact on the highway that left a crater. The 2nd windshield (Audi OE part installed by dealer) has about 10 months of wear, but it looks worse than the windshield in my friend's 1995 Golf.
Notes:
- I don't tailgate trucks
- I avoid driving closely behind cars
- I always remove ice/snow CAREFULLY to avoid scratches
- I keep the glass super-clean to avoid fine scratches from the wipers
Despite precautions, my windshield still looks terrible.
Anyone have any luck getting Audi to replace glass? Please share your stories.
Anyone with a real explanation for why Audi glass is "soft" ? Please share...
In general, please respond to this post and let your fellow B6 owners know if you have experienced any glass issues.
Thanks!

Vision issue
I got my B6 about three weeks ago and had problems with the vision. It looked as if I was looking through someone elses glasses.
Dealer took the car for a spin and it was replaced within 10 days. new one is fine.
Not quite on the point, however, a first cousin.
Also, is it possible that the glass is 'hard' rather than 'soft' as harder is more brittle. Just a thought.

Get glass insurance, its about 1 dollar a month.
I have cracked windows on other cars from "sticks" hitting my window. Just call up the insurance company and you get a new windshield in a couple of days. And it won't raise your rates and there is no deductible for it.

Scratches here....
My car's only a few months old, but the wipers have somehow caused a series of scratches on the windshield in the path of the wiper's tips. My car goes in for service in a couple weeks, I'm gonna see what they have to say about this. Glass does seem soft though...
