Split Second Boost Controller - Redux...
http://www.vwvortex.com. 90% of these are very positive. I suspect a few
of the negative experiences are due to operator error ( installation problems).
My controller arrives Friday, hopefully I can provide a review by Sunday. Where
else can you get 40HP and a boost gauge for 250.00? Those who poo-poo
the idea of a BCS probably have never tried it. It also seems everybody
thinks they are a "chip tuner" and have all the answers, but no experience.
I suggest everyone approach BCS with an open mind.
I just bought the 1.8T BCS. Should I worry about the A/F mixture being
too lean at full boost?. I live at a high altitude Denver and maybe already run a
little rich. is it likely that pinging will occur? and will the ECU programming begin
to back off the boost if the sensors detect the knocking? I don't want to slag
my motor.
Thanks
send a catalog if you have a hard copy. I saw other products that would

Charles,
Your stock ECU provides the correct mapping at higher boost levels.
Higher flow is measured by the MAF sensor and the additional fuel and
correct timing are provided. You may encounter pinging with a full load
climbing a hill on a hot day. You might also have a problem with lower
octane fuel. In either case just turn down the boost.

Mark
