Squeaky brakes...dealer says it's normal???
They took a look and said, mechanically, the brakes are fine and don't need any work done (pads ok, rotors ok - not glazed). He says that the brake pad material that Audi uses is prone to squeaking (especially around this time of the year) and that there's not much he can do.I 'm only at 21K.
Is this true? Do I have to just live with it or buy better pads? Anybody else have this problem?
Thanks.

I am at 20650 and mine have been doing it for the last 6 months.......
the dealer checked mine and said the exact same thing. Mine are really noticable when I have to apply them hard. Going back in today for warranty work (all replacement: steering pump, steering rack, hood pad, glove box latch, etc) amybe I will mention it again and see what they say.

they are supposed to take the pads off. They have a metallic build up on them.
I have the best service dept. in the country. They always have a solution and never turn a question down. I told them about my brakes and they cleaned off the metallic residue and beveled the edges just a tad. Haven't had a problem yet. (BTW It's Sunset Imports in Beaverton Oregon)

Re: Squeaky brakes...dealer says it's normal???
I have 930km on a 2004 and they are squeaking also. Haven't mentioned it yet cause I just want them to make the check engine light go out. Its been on since my 3rd day with the car and that was almost 3 months ago. I had a 2002 Passat before and I just think the mechanics are either tards or Audi/VW does not give them the training required.
