Sorry for being redundant if this question was posted before, but I'm coming up to my first oil change and was wondering if you all could shed some light on the Best Brand (if any) and grade to use for my 3.0 Quattro.

Does climate have any bearing on synthetic as it does/had on regular motor oil?

If they will let you use synthetics... I don't know... but Mobil 1 5w 30 is a great oil. Every 4-5K miles depending on how you drive it.
