after:

Sry, no pics, but I followed the writeups by NASA Racer and LI-S4
I mostly adhered to LI-S4's method (esp. NOT wiping off overspray and instead blending the new paint/clear coats with the existing).
I hadn't done much painting before this, but I found it fairly easy. It's just time-consuming, really. If 100% is a flawless repair, I'd consider this a 98% solution. A very satisfying "mod".

If you get the Wurth silver paint and clear coat...
along w/ primer, spot putty, sandpaper, and paint thinner, you're probably looking at around $50-$60 in supplies. Do a google search for "Wurth Silver" to find retailers onlnie.
That should be enough to fix curb rash on at least four wheels. If you're completely refinishing your wheels, I'd get two cans of primer, paint, and clear just to be safe.
It took me a four days, but that's because I worked on it after I got home from work. I spent one day each on cleaning/putty/sanding, primer/sanding, paint, clear coat. You can spend less time, but I'd at least let the paint dry overnight.

is there some special tool to take off the lug nut caps?
i just don't want to scratch up my wheels once i re-do them or have them redone...luckily i haven't had to take them off yet.

Yeah on and off...not in a huge rush but it would be nice to unload them.... eventually
maybe in the spring ill have better luck...damn all you people that live in $hitty a$$ weather and your cursed "winter set-ups" what a waste in my book and a HUGE PITA too. Id never live in the cold climate....too much of a hassle. you can only play with your car for like 5 months....DUMB. I gotta find someone on the west coast who could care less about winter.
