Default timing belt / thermostat
On ECS Tuning's site the thermostat that gets changed during a timing belt install is listed for just over $100. The mechanic I talked to said that it shouldn't be more than $20. He may have been talking about something else, just wanted to clarify. Thanks!

Default I think it's because the B6 t-stat is an electronic unit...
instead of purely mechanical.

Is this true for ALL B6's? I thought earlier models had a different mechanical system?

correct, all B6 1.8T's have the electronic thermostat, priced at ~$100
