Default Trip computer

I had a question about the trip computer and the way it records your driving time. I drove about 20 minutes last night home from a movie and this morning the 20 minutes still were on the initial trip computer time. I thought the trip computer only recorded the trip for 2 hrs and anything subsequent such as over night should make it start at 0 minutes again. I know I can reset it easily enought but was wondering if I should be concerned with this or not?

I've notice it do the same thing (kinda). It keeps the info from the last trip for a few moments so you can review it, then clears it.

Did it not clear it in your case?

Also, are you definatly in the "1" trip computer mode? (sorry, prob a silly question).

Yes.

I'm not sure it only stayed on for a minute or reset. I just know it was strange since it was definitiely over night and more than 2 hrs since driving the car.

As stated by the owners manual, the trip computer (when on 1) will reset itself after 2 hours of having the car sitting. It might have to be armed or locked for this to happen. But under normal circumstances, it should reset after two hours. When the computer is on '2', it shows the cumulative time since last reset, which if it hasn't been reset it will be total driving time since new.
I would guess that if yours isn't doing this, there could possibly be an issue.

The #1 is the "Short" Trip computer; it will reset itself automatically if the car is not turned back on 2 hours after you last turned it off.
#2 is the cumulative Trip Computer

I am in the # 1 and my trip time stayed over night. So I parked the car at 10pm and it said 20 min and this morning at 8:00am it said 20 minutes. So I was a bit confused at how the computer did remember the 20 minutes in mode # 1

Default Mine resets when I start rolling. When you hear the little thump the ABS usually makes it will reset

When I park my car at work it usually says 27, which is how long it takes me to get to work including the time I roll it out of my driveway and then wait for it to warm up. When I start it in the morning it has the time that I traveled the night before, but when I back it out it resets to 0. Watch for this next time you start rolling out, and keep in on mem position 1.

You are right. This morning in mode 1 it read 30minutes and as I started drving it reset. Though the manual states it will only remember the time if it is within 2 hrs... I guess it's wrong? How strange!
