trip computer functions
#2
If it;'s like my B5 A4 ...
As I remember:
- Instantaneous MPG
- Average MPG between resets
- Average MPH between resets
- Driving time between resets
- Miles between resets
- Miles to empty
Note: you say "brochure". My '98 came with a 100+ page owner's manual. Have times changed? You check your glove box for the manual?

Re: trip computer functions
Trip 1
1. Trip time (hh:mm) - resets after car is off for 2hrs IIRC.
2. Range (miles) - estimated miles based on driving style and qty of fuel in tank
3. Real time fuel efficiency (mpg)
4. Average speed for current trip (mph) - also resets after 2 hrs.
5. Average fuel efficiency for current trip (mpg) - also resets after 2 hrs.
6. I don't have a 6th, but I drive an 04, maybe you have a trip odometer? miles driven on current trip?
Trip 2
1. Trip time (hh:mm) - maintains data longer than 2 hrs, has to be manually reset. Good for long distance trips, I like to reset mine every time I fill up the tank.
2. Range (miles) - estimated miles based on driving style and qty of fuel in tank - same data as Trip 1.
3. Real time fuel efficiency (mpg) - same data as Trip 1.
4. Average speed for current trip (mph) - also maintains data until manually reset.
5. Average fuel efficiency for current trip (mpg) - also maintains data until manually reset.
6. Don't have a sixth function on Trip 2 either.
