A 98 A3 with 60K miles for $27K?!?!?!? That has got to be a typo! A car like that would probably sell for $15K in Europe. Not to mention that you can get a brand new A3 in Mexico for $24K base, $27 nicely loaded. Why would anyone buy his old used A3?

How hard would it be to get one from Mexico? Not very....
You can get a brand new one from Mexico for $27K. Add whatever fees tranportation tax duty comes on top of it, you're still a lot better off.
I just can't believe there is over $12K worth of fees to bring one in (remember a used one in Europe is about $15K for the same age and mileage).
And not to mention you can get a brand new A4 if the US for that price. It is bigger, completely US legal and NEW. Might not be as rare as an A4, but to me that A3 is just a glorified VW Golf, and a 5 year old one......

remember that your on an enthusiast forum, there's always going to be the dumb person out there
that the seller tells, "this car is not even available in the US" or they don't know of the resources to get one cleared for the US. On top of that. I still think it's just I high starting price to see if there are any takers for an already imported car. Everyone on AudiWorld laughs at the price...until it sells for that much.

Yeah, you're right. There is always going to be an idiot who can be taken advantage of....
Hey, people get ripped a new one even on a new car sale. I just heard a guy LEASED a 2003 A4 3.0 for $734/month!?!??! So yeah, chances are the A4 will sell for that much. But "only in America".

I saw one this morning (A4 that is)........
in my part of town A4s are RARE. I see one or two every week, tops! I have yet to see an A4 Avant. I have seen an A6 Avant once though. So for me an A4 Avant will be pretty rare.
BMW is another story though, they have infested the area (mostly cheap 325s though) ......
