Variable Service

Had a variable service completed a month ago. for the first 600 miles, when I push the wrench button on the dash, it showed service in ---- Miles and ---- Days. Now it shows service due in 8000 Miles and 350 Days.

I thought you were supposed to get more miles than this with the Variable service. Is it just that I have to wait and the figures will go up??

Well, it depends...

We don't have the variable service indicator in the US. Ours is just set for every 10,000 miles. I would assume that your indicator is weighing all the components that determine whether or not you need service and is showing that to be at 8000 miles. But since it's variable, I'm sure it will make adjustments throughout this service cycle. Or it could be that the conditions that it's logging merit more frequent service. Perhaps driving the car harder, in hotter conditions, in dusty conditions, etc.
