Verifying mirror auto dim functionality
My 02 A4 seems to have problems -W- auto dim. The rear and pass. side go to a bluish tint when direct light strikes the photo cell on the rear view mirror surface, but the drivers side does not. I thought they should all work in unison. Is this a valid way to check it?

Only way I know is to block the lighet sensor on the front of the rear view mirror
If you do that in daylight the dimming effect immediately obvious. All the mirrors should dim.
If one of them isn't it could be a wiring prob - although having removed one - the wiring looks pretty robust or the mirror could be faulty.
If you do a search on the forum you'll find that some people have had autdimming probs and have had their mirrors replaced under warranty.
