Vision Problems....Need some help
I'm totally new to this forum and I ran a couple searches, but I thought it would be a good idea to ask you guys what I should do.
I live in a rural area with a lot of snow. About a year ago, I tried changing my halogens in my audi a4 1.8t to xenon bulbs I bought from ebay. The result was awful and I could hardly see anything. I had the mechanic change the bulbs back to the halogens and for some reason, my lights are not bright at all.
There are a lot of deer where I live and I've had several deer related accidents. I am really looking to get a xenon kit for the car so that I will have no trouble with vision again. What kind of equipment should I buy, where do I find it, and should I just have my mechanic install it? I am willing to spend upwards to 500 dollars if necessary as this is a matter of safety. Thanks a lot.
Just halogen bulbs.
2. Driving lights, also off a relay. A pair of 100w or better driving lights make a world of difference.
Do a general search for headlight relay.
since you're in a rural area, i think xenons and xenon fogs will work for you--although i haven't tested the xenon fogs in the snow yet. i need to find my pictures. i have some fog shots.
anyway, the xenon fogs seem to work ok for me in the city. haven't really been flashed because of them--i think i mainly got flashed (only about 2 times) due to my xenon mains. with the ecodes, the cutoff is higher and the lights seem brighter. in fog and misty areas, they seem to look really bright and depending on the angle im at, they get bright. I say they work ok for me because in i sometimes blind (or at least flash myself in the eyes) mainly when traffic is stopped and there's a really shiny car in front of me or a nice chrome bumper at the level of my mains/fogs. the light reflects back into the cabin and i tend to stare at it (lol silly deer).
i'll post pics to give you a better understanding of what they look like from the inside and from oncoming traffic. my .02
As mentioned earlier, the S4 Bi-Xenon OEM setup and the >='05 A4,B6 has full xenon output on hibeam combined with the H7 halogen on hi beam for amazing illumination for at least a mile. Standard/DOT xenon housings are fixed cutoff shield HID lowbeam and H7 combined for Hi beam.
They were not High Intensity Discharge (HID) lights that are also referred to as Xenon. I proper HID setup will cost ~$1000 and you can't get anything like it by buying $30 bulbs off eBay. The only thing you will get is crappy light and they will burn out quickly.
Listen to these guys here if you want to do it right. Get the OEM HID housings either DOT or Ecode (E-Code is preferred) with all the proper hardware (capsules and ballast). Lot of people have gotten into trouble with aftermarket HID setups because they will get a bulb out indictator in the dash. Be careful on what you buy and only buy quality.

I would try these first as they have 50% more output than standard OEM, no modifications is required to the wiring harness at all as there is no increase in current draw. In a way a cheap investment.
I have Xenons(low beam only on 2002 A4) and still didn't see very well with high beams on so I put in the Philips on the high beams and total lighting is extremely good. I had a '97 A4 with these bulbs in and I thought that halogen setup was better than my current Xenon/halogen setup. Remember the bluish light of the Xenons is not as great in rain and snow as is the yellowish halogens. Xenons are ok but if I had a choice again I would go halogen.

http://www.powerbulbs.co.uk/</a
