Default what controls the shifter to self center?

I ask as my shifter sometimes gets stuck and does not self center. I have to shove it to the middle or to a gear. It just isn't smooth some days. Any ideas?

Default Try checking the shifter linkage for correct adjustment....

The tendancy for the shifter to "center", between the upper and lower shift gates, is from springs inside the trans and gate detents. Some setups use external springs on the linkage also.

mine is the same way, worse when cold obviously, inproves as car warms up, dealer has lubed it underneath trim cover and has "rebuilt" it, still the same...just one of those things....

Default i am still using the OEM setup. 2004 6sp. I have lubed under the trim and it seems to help

for a day or two. I am assuming the springs are inside the tranny? Can i access the gate detents to see if they are dirty?
