When upgrading to B5 S4 calipers, are new dust shields required too?

...or will the existing stock ones fit with the bigger caliper?

No..not needed..they bend the inward direction..so it doesn't matter that much.

existing ones are actually bigger than the S4 ones

so i kept my stock one on.
