window not working

I have a '98 A4T quattro... One day my driver side window was working, shut the door, locked the car and left.

When I returned I tried rolling the window down and it didn't work. I played with the button and it finally worked, but I didn't want it to stay down, so I put it back up. Now it doesn't work at all.

Has anyone had anything similar happen to them? Does anyone know which fuse to check? What else could it be?? I looked in some of the past forums and heard that it could be a window regulator? Any other suggestions???

my window fell in on my 02

first of all... you are on the b6 forum... you might get a more specific answer on the b5 forum...

but its probably similar parts

mine was a retainer clip or a resistor clip ?

something like that... motor still worked it just wouldn't go back up

A6's and VW's often have that problem of the clip breaking

MB is setting you down the correct path of things to checkout imo.

Usually when the clip breaks, it the opposite problem.. the window goes down and not up...

If you can reproduce this every time you might want to take the panel off and have a look. If it sounds rough going up/down, it might be the clip wearing out. Sucky thing is, they dont sell the clip seperately, you have to buy an entire regulator kit. I have seen posts of someone modifying the clip on an A6 to get it to work??
