Default Wireless Radar

I am really considering getting the new Escort Solo S2. It is pretty expensive, but being wireless, looking sleak, and working good is worth the money to me.

Just was wondering if any of your had experience with it...is the performance much worse then a normal radar (Escort 8500/V1)?

Default I have it, I have had it for about a month, and no cops have been helpful and tried to bust me.

I got an "instant on" from a hipo, but he nailed the guy in front of me. The sound was new and I thought it was my phone, but eventually it all clicked and I slowed down.

I can tell you that no cords is great, it does not false alarm as much as my V1(pretty much worthless in the city), and you can take it with you if you find yourself in the mog and you do not want to leave it in the car. It fits perfectly in the compartment under the seat.

From what I read, the performance is pretty close to a corded unit.

Default Whats the point? a hard wired one is the whole purpose buy a PASSPORT SR1

those stupid ones(Valentine 1, Escort, etc...) you see in car magazines are so obvious, and aren't the cops not supposed to see them(that's the whole purpose right? not advertise to every frigin' person that you have one because its stuck to you wind shield); otherwise whats the purpose? if you're gonna get one spend the extra money and get the SR1 with the laser and radar jammer but will probably be hard to get. To get it you have to be a car vendor(like a dealership who rips you off) not a regular stereo shop can do it from what i found out when i got mine. Oh and how sweetis the feeling when that thing starts screeaming and you hit that jammer button you're laughing all the way home..... buy one email me if you want to know more and see pics

Default I have had it for about 6 weeks and it seems to work pretty good.

Hardly any false alarms and it seems to have good range. I would get it again.

Default I've had a battery-powered Escort for years, love it. Stealthy. Found it in a high-end repo!

My buddy's Rover, found it along with a "Corrupt" CD. He said "keep it" without knowing exactly how nice a unit it was.

Default It's a tradeoff...convenience or performance...

I've tried the old Solo, and it sucked compared to a wired radar detector. I returned it. The issue is that they need to design the unit to conserve battery power. Since the old Solo, I'm sure they have added front and rear lidar detection, which would further challenge power conservation efforts.

It's pretty easy to hardwire the corded units in our cars, so personally, I would not compromise on performance for the cordless feature. If you doubt whether you'll lose performance, order both the 8500 and the Solo, and return the one you decide you don't want.
