Default XM Radio

Anyone install XM Radio in the new A4's? I'm wondering what my options are. Is there an AUX audi input? or am I stuck with FM Modulation?

Default From what installers have told me about XM, no matter what car you own...

Either you must buy an "XM Ready" headunit, or use the FM Modulation.

Default The CD Changer Input will give you line in capability...

Give Blitzsafe a call... tell them you want to CD-Changer to RCA adapter ($80). That'll give you an RCA input to the headunit selectable by choosing CD-C from the head unit. I'm going to use mine for a Phatbox...

http://www.blitzsafe.com</a

So the Audi Symphony system with the indash cd changer has an input for a second cd changer? The manual doesn't say specifically if that is offered in my car (3.0 A4 w/ bose).

Will installing a XM radio void your warranty? I was told by my dealer's service department that some after market installs cause their computers to misread when trying to detect problems. Has anyone had their car in the shop after installing
a XM radio?

You just have to be careful that the installer does NOT connect the K-wire to the aftermarket headunit. Some wiring harnesses for aftermarket radios wire the K-wire (which is used for diagnostics and such in the car) in sure a way that power is supplied to it and can damage the dealer's diagnostic equipment. (There's a better/more technical explanation on the www.ross-tech.com website, I believe.)

Some people just say their dealers require them to disconnect or remove their aftermarket headunits before they will diagnose problems in the vehicle.
