Default 2007 Audi A4?

Im looking at buying a used audi a4 with a turbo 2.0 L engine. it has 114k miles and Im wondering if its a good investment or if it will be a maitnance nightmare. Im only gonna have about a grand to be able to fix anything that goes wrong. Im a senior in highschool. Should I not buy this car?

Alec, welcome to the forum!

Are you able to describe what work has been performed over the past two years? Has the timing belt been done? (Probably long over-due, many people dump these cars at this mileage threshold due to the expense.) How are your mechanical skills? How big is your metric tool box? Can you go back to your parents for $$$ when things go horribly wrong? Has the car lived in the rust belt its entire life? It's it Quattro? Do you have access to an indy Audi repair shop? Are you subject to an annual inspection?

it needs a timing belt in the next 15k miles, it is not a quattro its front wheel drive and it was bought by the current owner and the only thing that has been replaced is the speed sensor and the rotors and i can only use my own money for repairs because my parents dont like audi

LOL about your parents dis-like.

(You haven't answered the balance of my concerns.)

Who do you have lined up for the timing belt swap? Do you know the person selling the car?

That helps. If you feel the person is honestly representing the car, that's not crazy mileage assuming the basic stuff has been done over time. European cars are intolerant of skipped maintenace.

I helped purchase this exact car two years ago for a friend's son up the street. 96k miles, 6 speed 2007 FWD Audi A4. Grey. I think they paid $5300 for it. Timing belt not done, but other routine maintenance appeared to have been completed. Two years later, they've had the timing belt done by a local Audi shop for around $1300. I believe all the routine stuff was replaced during that service including water pump, etc. Brakes and tires were OK. Struts are badly worn and still need to be replaced. The son loves the car and it has provided reliable service so far. I believe the car consumes oil and they don't really pay any attention to that. It's had a couple other minor issues I've helped them work thru. They wanted Quattro since that's what the parents have, but couldn't find a decent car unless paying thousands more at that time.

Alec, I think it's important to have some financial reserves in place when looking at a car like this. They are NOT cheap to repair unless you can handle 100% of the work. Do you have a local repair shop that can do the timing belt job?

Sounds cheap. Is the car showing signs of rust, deterioration?
