Anyone had a bad airbag ignitor? Warning light is on.
My AIRBAG warning light came on yesterday as I drove to work. VAGCOM pulled a code for the side airbag (driver side) ignitor. I cleared it and it came back immediately.
I am 2500 miles from the 45k service and would prefer not to go in for service early. I can live without the side airbag for a few months, as long as that is the only problem

Happened in my B5 a few times
Assuming the problem is the same as on the B5, the problem is actually the connector under the seat. Sometimes it gets loose with time, or sometimes it is dislodged by debris under the seat.
My friend would often shove The Club under the seat and it would hit into the airbag connector. Or sometimes I would have a waterbottle on the floor which gets wedged under the seat and hits into the connector.
The connector never actually came off. And it didn't even look loose. It would just need to be re-seated. You can also try zipties or electrical tape to keep it in position.
Haven't had the problem yet with my B7.
